Ready to go already!!

Alright, I'm sitting by a fire at the closest bar next to work and all I keep thinking is how ready I am to grab my bag and go...2 1/2 weeks. So close.

First Speedbump

Well, Will and I had originally planned to go down by bus to Guatemala, but as the death toll of tourists increases due to drug trafficking in Mexico, we changed plans and bought plane tickets. The air is much safer than the warm embrace of Latino bullets.

That being said, we still need to be careful in Central America. While reading the Economist this morning (Ya, I read intelligent people magazines sometimes), the focus piece was about the growing drug trafficking/gang wars in Central America. The two worst countries right now are Honduras and El Salvador. We decided to stay completely out of El Salvador, but we will be in Honduras for a bit. While we are in Honduras we will be staying to the more touristy (and heavily crowded) cities by the ocean. It will be much safer that way. This is gonna be a pretty extreme adventure, but we aren't going to needlessly put ourselves in danger for any reason.

Less than three weeks now,
J

One Ending, One Beginning

I've just recently graduated and it is time to go out into the world and experience life to the fullest once again. The trip begins on May 14th and we (Will and myself) will be heading to Guatemala and then through Central America. I'm excited to see what we find down there.

Right now, I'm selling everything I own, it's amazing how much we accumulate as people. By the time I leave, I will have a backpack to my name. Everything I need in a single bag; a new life forged in simplicity. I've also been slowly going through my goodbyes to all my friends. My personal belief is that everyone is on their own path, they go their own damn way regardless (obviously that includes me), so we must be happy with every second we share with those people. So with this relationship fluidity, I hope our paths meet up again, but I'm excited that Will and I are going in the same direction for now.

Endless possibilities on this trip. Stay posted.
